At first, being with Quý Thần Dần still felt strange to me. Neither of us had adjusted to our new relationship status; if anything, we’d become even more formal with each other than before. For example, if he accidentally brushed my hand, he’d blush for half the day before apologizing.
I was pretty shy at first, too.
But as time went on, something started to feel wrong.
We were dating, not playing with cotton balls!
One day, tired after reading some documents, he fell asleep with his head on the desk.
Looking at his long-fingered hand, I reached out and touched it without thinking.
At first, I was a little cautious, but when he didn’t wake up, I slowly began to stroke his palm.
Suddenly, he caught the hand I’d been playing with. “What are you doing?”
Quý Thần Dần had just woken up, and his voice was still drowsy. His bangs were tousled and falling over his forehead, making him look unbearably innocent.
His adorable expression melted my heart. I stroked his palm a little more and made something up. “They say this makes your heart race.”
Quý Thần Dần thought about it seriously for a moment, then said, “But I don’t feel…”
He was always like that, never understanding how I felt.
So I leaned closer and secretly kissed his cheek. “What about now?”
When Quý Thần Dần realized what I was doing, his face slowly turned red.
See? He wasn’t nearly as composed as he thought.
I wanted to tease him some more, but Quý Thần Dần just said, “No.”
No way! Absolutely no way!
He was already blushing, and he still said no!
He was blushing and still said no!
I was about to call him out when Quý Thần Dần suddenly closed his eyes and gave me a light kiss on the lips, then whispered in my ear, “How about now?”
See? He really had grown up.
I covered my face so he wouldn’t see how embarrassed I was, and muttered, “You’re so annoying.”
Quý Thần Dần chuckled and said, “Am I annoying you again?”
I waited, but he didn’t come to comfort me, so I peeked at him and saw him fiddling with something on the computer.
He noticed me sneaking a look, and the corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
So I said casually, “If you won’t comfort me, does that mean there’s no place for me in your heart?”
The next second, a message from Quý Thần Dần popped up.
I instinctively opened the project file he’d sent. A cute little dog appeared on the screen.
He’d used a program to draw a little dog for me.
I looked over curiously, just as my eyes met Quý Thần Dần’s smiling ones.
He shrugged, still smiling. “My girlfriend was mad, so I drew her a little dog.”
“Help me see if it’ll make her stop being mad.”
Honestly.
He was so childish now.
I grumbled, but I couldn’t keep the smile from tugging at my lips.
Because I had a copy of Tagore’s poetry collection on my desk.
That page happened to say—
The dog suspected that the vast universe was secretly plotting to take its place.
The next second, Quý Thần Dần gently kissed my forehead and said, “The little dog doesn’t need to worry. Your place can never be taken.”
