BACK TO CHAPTER 1:
The canary finally realized Viên Lộ Dao hadn’t been joking.
Her once-arrogant face changed in an instant—from shock to panic.
“You have no right! This is the Lu family’s eldest grandson! Mr. Lu’s only son! I want to see him! Mr. Lu!!!”
She shrieked.
Actually, I’d already seen my father standing outside the elevator.
He’d arrived, but the moment he saw what was happening, he ran off to hide.
With that kind of cowardly streak, he still dared to keep a mistress on the side.
I deliberately shouted:
“Dad!!”
My father had been about to get into the elevator and make his escape, but he had no choice but to turn back and glare at me with pure hatred.
He headed toward Viên Lộ Dao with a fawning smile:
“Dao Dao, you came back to the country without even giving me a heads-up.”
“Mr. Lu! Help me! She wants to kill your son! This is your child! Your own flesh and blood!”
Lục Hoa Thịnh acted as though he didn’t know her, ignoring her as she clung tightly to his arm.
“Who are you? Do we know each other?”
“Dao Dao, when did you get back? Are you tired? I’ll give you a massage tonight, okay?”
Viên Lộ Dao said nothing, turned, and walked away.
Lục Hoa Thịnh immediately changed his tune and hurried after her, fawning over her without so much as glancing at the canary.
“Honey!!! I’m carrying your child! Honey!! Come back!! How can you call yourself a man if you’re afraid of your wife?! You’re the CEO! Don’t you have any backbone?!”
I signaled to the bodyguards to gag her.
I’d meant to tell her the whole truth, so that even if she died, she’d at least die knowing what had happened.
But Viên Lộ Dao turned around and called to me:
“Vạn Thần, let’s go.”
She’d made up her mind—not to let the canary find out the truth, even if it killed her.
7
By the time I got home, my birth mother was already there too.
She was very good at reading the room.
As soon as she saw us come in, she snatched the broom from Aunt Vuong and hurriedly started sweeping, as if she were one of the servants.
I was a little surprised—what was my mother doing here?
My father was even more surprised—what was his ex-wife doing at his house?
I saw Viên Lộ Dao give my mother a slight nod, then head straight upstairs to her room.
Lục Hoa Thịnh immediately trailed after her like a little dog afraid of being abandoned, taking tiny, cautious steps.
I told my mother all the awful things Lục Hoa Thịnh had done.
From upstairs came the sound of things being smashed, followed by his loud vows as he swore over and over that he hadn’t done anything wrong.
He was shouting so loudly, I didn’t even have to look to know—he was definitely kneeling and swearing his innocence.
Thunder boomed and lightning flashed outside.
Even the heavens couldn’t stand it anymore.
My mother said indignantly:
“Honey, your useless father can’t even be a kept man properly! Let’s just hope he doesn’t drag you down with him!”
Some kinds of thinking really are beyond ordinary people.
By all rights, my father’s affair was as plain as day.
And yet he stubbornly refused to admit it.
He even claimed I’d deliberately edited a video to frame him.
He turned all the blame on me.
I replied calmly:
“If you think I made it up, then get a paternity test with Thẩm Trân Trân’s child.”
The child Thẩm Trân Trân had been carrying was forced to be aborted.
The baby was already fully formed by then.
Thẩm Trân Trân glared at Viên Lộ Dao and screamed:
“You murderer! You killer! I’ll never forgive you!”
“Lục Hoa Thịnh! You can’t even protect your own child! I despise you!”
She was still wearing the clothes she’d had on at the hospital, her dress soaked with blood.
My father’s eyes were filled with grief. He didn’t dare look directly at the child.
His hands clenched into fists.
