Kind Mother, Filial Child

About this story

Mrs. Ho's favorite activity is releasing animals, and the things she sets free cover every kind imaginable—from red-eared turtles to water hyacinths, from mineral water to cotton clothes. Now she has gone even further: she wants to “release” children too—and other people's children at that. After doing all this, she keeps finding money for seven days straight. Proudly, she says it is a blessing earned from her accumulated merit. In truth, however, it is the money that will buy her life.
