Taking a moment to assess myself, I realized my body really was much stronger.

“Okay.” I nodded.

While the doctor drew my blood, I asked,

“If I only needed a week to recover completely, why didn’t I wake up until half a month later?”

Hadn’t I woken up early?

The doctor slowed down and turned to look at the Marshal, who was sitting upright in his chair.

He cleared his throat.

“You don’t remember any of it? After reaching S-rank, you went into heat. The Marshal was the one who helped you through it.”

I went into heat?

In an instant, memories came rushing back, one after another.

I relived the wild memories from my heat.

My face turned bright red.

Every one of those memories showed me shamelessly clinging to him.

I pressed my lips together.

Sometimes, you just don’t feel like talking.

After the doctor left, only the Marshal and I remained in the room.

I went over and wrapped my arms around him.

He tried to push me away twice, but couldn’t.

“You’re so reckless. Go be with yourself!”

The Marshal was clearly angry that I’d acted on my own and sneaked into insectoid territory.

I knew I was in the wrong.

Luckily, I hadn’t lost my life—and I’d even come out of it stronger.

I pouted and pleaded, doing everything I could to make it up to him.

I hugged him, then leaned against him.

After all my efforts, the Marshal finally stopped holding it against me.

…

That evening, the Marshal and I went outside.

Everyone was cheering and celebrating.

The remaining bugs had been wiped out. Humanity had defeated the alien creatures.

The days of anxious uncertainty were over. The future would be full of light.

The weight on my shoulders was gone.

I felt completely at ease.

We lay side by side on the grass, gazing up at the glittering stars.

It had been a long time since I’d looked at the sky like this.

Suddenly, a few shooting stars streaked across the sky.

“Quick, make a wish.”

The Marshal and I bowed our heads and made wishes.

I wished: [May I stay by the Marshal’s side forever.]

Once the shooting stars had passed, we looked at each other.

We smiled at each other.

The atmosphere was warm and sweet.

It was just like one of those romantic scenes in a movie.

At a moment like this, you’re supposed to say something sweet to bring you closer.

Inspired by my wish, I said to him tenderly,

“Will you hold my hand, from wife to old wife?”

The Marshal thought for a long time before answering me, five minutes later.

“…Yes.”

[Extra Story]

1.

After thoroughly cleaning up the scene, we boarded the ship and headed back to the capital.

Ever since the government announced that I’d advanced to S-rank, I hadn’t had a moment’s peace.

So many people asked me how I’d ranked up.

I explained it to them one by one until I was exhausted.

So I decided to host a livestream and answer everyone’s questions all at once.

Since it was my first time livestreaming,

I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to handle things, so I begged the Marshal to join me.

The moment the livestream started, the viewer count shot from one to over a million.

There are that many people?

I was nervous inside, but I tried to look calm as I began.

“Hello, everyone. As you all know, I’m the Marshal’s Alpha. My real name is Nguyễn Nhuyễn.”

“If you have any questions about ranking up, you can ask me directly.”

“Or, if you’d like to ask the Marshal a few questions, that’s fine too.”

“Now I’ll pick a lucky viewer.”

I randomly selected someone from the list of connection requests.

“Hello, Sister Nhuyễn. Could you explain how an ordinary employee can work their way up to a senior management position?”

“I think that question has to do with unlocking your potential. First…”

The second lucky viewer.

“Is it possible to get promoted multiple times?”

“I’m an example myself. I’m currently developing an advanced training program. You can keep an eye out for it.”

The third lucky viewer.

“I’d like to ask a question about technology.”

“Sure, go ahead.”

…

An hour later.

By then, the livestream had gone smoothly, and I’d done my best to answer every question I could.

All in all, the livestream had been a great success.

I looked relieved.

Until I connected with the twentieth viewer…

Once the connection went through, I saw a girl on the other end who seemed a little flirtatious.

I thought she wanted to ask the Marshal something.

At last, it wasn’t my turn to talk anymore.

The pressure lifted, and I breathed a sigh of relief.

I asked, “What would you like to ask the Marshal?”

“Huh? I’m not asking the Marshal.” The girl spoke in a sugary voice. “I want to ask you!”

The Marshal heard her and turned to look at my screen.

Then he looked at me.

His suspicious look made it seem as though I’d done something behind his back.

I shook my head, giving him an innocent look.

I grew wary of this somewhat flirtatious viewer.

“Go ahead,” I said politely.

“I just turned eighteen~”

I cut her off immediately. “All right, let’s connect to the next person.”

The next person was a middle-aged man.

The Marshal looked away.

I breathed a sigh of relief.

The man seemed to be a company owner, dressed in a neat suit.

Behind him was an entire bookcase full of books and magazines.

I thought, Surely he won’t ask anything inappropriate?

“Sister Nhuyễn, what should you keep in mind when you’re in love with your boss?”

“Next person.”

The Marshal turned back again and kept staring.

A bead of sweat trickled down my forehead.

What a bunch of weirdos.

The comments were flying by, all saying, “Please connect with me.”

I decided to connect with one last person.

Just one.

When the last person connected, I looked at his profile. He was a middle-aged man.

“Phew~” I let out a sigh of relief.

I asked gently, “Is there anything you’d like to ask?”

“I’d like to ask the Marshal something first.”

The Marshal said coldly, “Go ahead.”

“What would happen if my younger brother tried to come between the two of you?”

The Marshal replied without hesitation, “He’d die a horrible death. My wife can only have one husband, and that’s me.”

“I see. Well, I wanted to tell Sister Nhuyễn…” He swept his hair aside and gave me a flirtatious look. “I’m willing to be the other man for love. You can keep me company on lonely nights so they won’t feel so lonely.”

Me: “…”

But you’re a man.

I wanted to slap him.

A loud noise came from beside us—a thump.

The Marshal promptly fainted from anger.

2.

My hands trembled.

“Darling, what’s wrong? Wake up.”

I helped the Marshal onto the sofa and anxiously waited for his private doctor to arrive.

The wait was agonizing.

I wanted to cry.

I should never have started that damned livestream.

What would I do if something happened to him?

I still wanted us to spend our whole lives together, forever and ever.

Just as I was about to burst into tears, the doctor arrived.

I hurriedly told the doctor,

“My wife fainted! Doctor, please examine her right away.”

The doctor took out a health-monitoring device.

“Please don’t worry, ma’am. I’ll examine him.”

I waited anxiously.

The doctor frowned, then relaxed, then frowned again, then relaxed again.

My heart felt like it was breaking.

Was this illness really that hard to treat?

Could he still be saved? Was it terminal?

At last, the doctor set the device down and sighed.

My heart went completely still.

I resolutely stepped forward and took the Marshal’s hand.

“Don’t worry. I absolutely won’t go on living alone. If you go, I’ll go with you.”

The Marshal slowly opened his eyes.

He heard my heartfelt words.

The doctor shook his head. “Marshal, he’s pregnant.”

I looked up, waiting for what came next.

What was it?

What on earth was it?

I waited until my neck was stiff.

The Marshal smiled faintly. “Oh.”

What did he mean, “Oh”?

What on earth did he mean by “Oh”?

“Congratulations, Sister Nhuyễn. You’re having boy-girl twins.”

My brain froze for a long while.

I only remember saying “Oh” too before I passed out.

Life shouldn’t be too perfect…

(The End)
